grammar : the prsent simple vs the present continuous 

🕰️ Present Simple

Used for:

  • Habits and routines: "I drink coffee every morning."
  • General truths and facts: "Water boils at 100°C."
  • Permanent situations: "She lives in Agadir."
  • Scheduled future events: "My flight leaves at 8 PM."

Structure:

  • Base verb for most subjects: "I play", "You walk"
  • Add -s/-es for third person singular: "He plays", "She watches"
  • Negative: "I don’t play", "He doesn’t walk"
  • Questions: "Do you play?", "Does she walk?"

🔄 Present Continuous

Used for:

  • Actions happening right now: "She is reading a book."
  • Temporary situations: "I’m staying in Marrakech this week."
  • Changing situations: "He is getting better at French."
  • Annoying habits (with 'always'): "She is always interrupting me!"
  • Definite future plans: "I’m meeting my friend later."

Structure:

  • am/is/are + verb-ing: "I am working", "They are playing"
  • Negative: "I’m not working", "She isn’t playing"
  • Questions: "Are you working?", "Is he playing?"
