In Victorian / 19th century England, in most lower-class /

working-class / poor families, kids sometimes were

forced to work / made to work as soon as they could walk. And when they reached the age of 6 / six or 7 / seven,

most of them were employed in factories or down the mines. The jobs they did were often very dangerous, and

there were many accidents. Employers didn’t have to pay the kids as much as they paid adults.
