<h1>Comparative Adjectives</h1>

<h3>1. Definition</h3>

The comparative is used to compare two people, animals, things, or places.

👉 Example:

<h4>A) Short adjectives (1 syllable)</h4>

Add -er + than

	<li>
	fast → faster than
	</li>
</ul>

<h4>B) Adjectives ending in -y</h4>

Change y → i and add -er + than

	happy → happier than

	busy → busier than
	</li>
</ul>

<h4>C) Long adjectives (2+ syllables)</h4>

Use more + adjective + than

there are some exceptions (irregular adjectives) that don’t follow the usual rules:

<h3>2. Spelling exceptions</h3>

	One-syllable adjectives ending with a consonant + vowel + consonant: 
	Double the last consonant before adding -er. 
	👉 big → bigger than 
	👉 hot → hotter than

	Adjectives ending in -y: 
	Change y → i and add -er. 
	👉 happy → happier than 
	👉 easy → easier than
	</li>
